About Us

You might be asking, “why Heavi? Why not Heavy?”  Three things: first, it is catchy (at least in our opinion); Second, it represents the significance and effort we place behind every project and design; Third, it is in respect to a man who understood and enabled the electromagnetics field to many more people.

For the third point, Oliver Heaviside was a self-taught engineer.  He contributed heavily to the electromagnetics focal area of electrical engineering. He is the person who made Maxwell’s famous equations palatable to most, and created transmission line theory.  Heaviside contributed heavily to the transatlantic telegraph, complex number theory, as well as coining the terms of admittance, inductance and impedance (among many others).  In short, he was a big deal.
